Alexander Wang
spring/summer 2011

Doodle-prints in fashion

On 11 September 2010, Alexander Wang presented his SS2011 at the New York Fashion Week. It was the premiere of the first in-house print. The doodle-print was created by the Alexander Wang staff while the working place was reconstructed.

"New York's prince of downtown darkness is turning toward the light," writes Meenal Mistry about the Alexander Wang SS2011 collection on Style.com. The Californian born in New York living designer is receiving since the beginning (2007) international coverage and awards such in 2008 the Vogue/CFDA Fund and in the same year the CFDA Swarovksi Women’s Wear Designer of the Year. Alexander Wang has studied at Parsons The New School for Design, New York. Today he is selling worldwide in the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong, London, France and Australia.

The SS2011 workwear interpretations of overalls, pants and dresses in soft, very clean tones of white, metallic-green, saffron, bronze are inspired by Alexander Wang's currently situation of living in spaces - private and business, that are under reconstruction. You can find an extensive slideshow of the Alexander Wang SS2011 collection with interview on Fashionologie.com.
