Ritu Kumar is the author of the reference book "The Costumes and Textile of Royal India" (published by Christies, October 1999). The documentation bases on her research on the evolution of the tastes and preferences of India’s royalty over two decades.

Ritu Kumar studied in India and US. She awarded several prizes; at last in 2006 the ‘Glam Womens wear (Indian) Designer’ by Tuscan Verve Zoom Glam Awards.
